Simplify impedance measurements and stability analysis — all in one intuitive platform.

Our products elevate your impedance and stability analysis capabilities

How do inverter-based resources (IBRs) impact grid stability?

The growing use of IBRs like solar and wind power introduces new stability challenges in power grids. IBRs have different dynamics compared with synchronous generators, and may interact with power grid and lead to system oscillations or even blackout.

Why are traditional tools not enough for impedance and stability analysis?

Standard grid analysis tools often fail to accurately measure impedance or assess stability in IBR-dominated power systems—especially in large or complex networks. This can lead to power system oscillations, trip of renewable energies, or even blackouts.

How our products help improve grid stability analysis!

Our tools provide high-precision impedance measurement, model validation, and stability analysis tailored for IBR-dominated power systems. This enables grid operators and OEMs to make reliable design and control decisions in modern, IBR-dominated networks.

We offer two complementary tools within the AIS platform: the Automated Impedance Measurement (AIM) tool, and the Stability Prediction (SP) tool.

Purchase and use the tools either separately or together. Both run in the same environment, requiring no additional installations.

Automated Impedance Measurement

Automated Impedance Measurement

The Automated Impedance Measurement (AIM) Tool enables fast, fully automated measurement of the full impedance matrix in both dq and stationary frame, providing accurate stability insights and reducing analysis time for power converter systems.

Key features:

Direct impedance measurement: AIM enables direct measurement of all elements in the impedance matrix, even in non-linear systems – in both dq and stationary frame.

Fully automated: After specifying the impedance measurement settings, the software handles all processing, calculations, and impedance extraction in a fully automatic manner.

PSCAD Compatible: The software can measure the impedance of simulation models developed in PSCAD.

Stability Prediction

The Stability Prediction (SP) Tool uses measured impedance data for advanced stability analysis of converter-grid systems. It supports both SISO and MIMO configurations and delivers clear stability results through a streamlined, file-based workflow. Can be used seamlessly with AIM.

Key features:

Accurate Stability Evaluation: Using the Generalized Nyquist Criterion (GNC), the SP Tool delivers precise stability assessments in the inspected frequency range. For SISO systems, it also provides gain and phase margins to facilitate controller design.

Visualized Results: Nyquist plots of eigenvalue loci offer intuitive, graphical representations of system stability, simplifying user interpretation.

Versatile Compatibility: The SP Tool supports various input and output configurations, including SISO and MIMO systems, user-defined or AIM-measured impedance, dB/degree or real/imaginary formats, impedance or admittance data, and multiple file types—ensuring maximum convenience for users. With a single click, you can handle and display multiple cases for easy, intuitive comparison
